Day 1 CUIABÁ/SAVANNAH TABLE LANDS (CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES)

Arrival at Cuiabá airport. Reception and transfer in a private air-conditioned van to the table lands Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, 60 Km by car from Cuiabá. Accommodations at the Park Ecolodge. Check-in and lunch at “Teta da Loba” Restaurant. After a short rest, visitors will be taken on a tour to the Stone City, where they will enjoy a bird’s eye view of the entire National Park. They will be able to view exotic birds, such as green macaws, as they return to their nests in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2 CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES

Day dedicated to an unforgettable guided trek through the National Park, where the wind and rain have sculpted intriguing shapes on the reddish sandstone cliffs, covered by the savannah vegetation (cerrado). Hikers will be able to view the crystalline water of the several waterfalls and natural pools in the Park. The tour ends at the 86m high Véu de Noiva waterfall (Bride’s Veil waterfall), with a traditional meal at a local restaurant overlooking an impressive huge canyon. Late afternoon - a short tour to view the sunset behind the 850m high São Geronimo peak, located in front of the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3 SAVANNAH TABLE LANDS / PANTANAL WETLANDS

Breakfast and morning check-out. Guests will be driven to the historical town of Chapada dos Guimarães, where they will visit the first church of the State of Mato Grosso. Opportunity to visit a small, local handicrafts shop in town, or the Indian Museum and the Zoo in Cuiabá. Lunch in Cuiabá at a Rodizio-style restaurant, serving local freshwater fish, prepared in many delicious ways. A stop at the geographic center of South America for a breathtaking view of the Plateau of Cuiabá. Lunch at a local restaurant, offering awe inspiring views of the Pantanal plateau. After lunch, a 167km drive will bring us to our next stop, the charming “Gold Miners”Town of Poconé. There we will pause for a quick snack and opportunity to take pictures of the Central Square, colonial buildings and the cathedral. From here onwards, the paved Transpantaneira road will lead us to the Araras Lodge, 25Km away from Poconé. Welcome to the Pantanal plateau, where the flora and fauna represent one of the richest ecosystems on the planet. Welcome drink and check-in at the lodge. 19:30hs (7:30pm) dinner at the lodge. Short night walk to enjoy the southern hemisphere sky and the sounds of mother nature.

DAY 4 PANTANAL WETLANDS

Full-day tour dedicated to the observation of flora and fauna of the region, at the Arara’s lodge private reserve. After breakfast, a guided horseback riding tour (approx. 2 ½ hs) along the pastures, woods and wetlands. Lunch at the lodge. After lunch the guide will take guests on a tour to other areas of the same reserve, where they will be able to get acquainted with some other aspects of the region’s wilderness . Overnight at the Araras Lodge.

DAY 5 PANTANAL WETLANDS

After breakfast guests will take a guided tour to Sentinela Camp, at the edge of Clarinho river, where the majestic vegetation and mangroves along the river’s bank can be admired from typical canoes. Time for a Brazilian “Churrasco” (barbecue) . A “Churrasco”, picnic style, will be prepared and served by the Pantaneiros (locals) by the river bank. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 PANTANAL WETLANDS / CUIABÁ

Transfer-out after breakfast. On the return trip to the airport, a photo safari along the Transpantaneira road will offer opportunities to capture even more unforgettable memories.
